We are challenging 100,000 individuals to donate only R10 to help us reach our goal of R1,000,000. These donations will go toward the primary care of the animals who are in need of rehabilitation.

The #WeCan campaign encourages animal lovers of all ages, to walk this mile-to-a million with us. You are one of 100,000 individuals who have decided to help our four & three-legged friends like Misty, Mo, Star, Percy & Michael. The AACL Cape Town sees in excess of 50,000 animals and the characters who you’ve heard about are only five of them! You can donate R10 to any of the characters you choose and your donation will enable us to continue caring for our furry friends, as well as those still to come!

Our Animal Welfare Organisation of the Month is Kitty and Puppy Haven
Kitty and Puppy Haven (KPH), established in 2000, is more than just a shelter—it’s a lifeline for South Africa’s most vulnerable cats and dogs. As a pro-life rescue organisation, KPH upholds a strong promise: no animal will be put down if healing is possible and a happy, pain-free life is within reach.
Every animal that crosses KPH’s threshold carries a story—often one of neglect, abuse, or abandonment. But here, healing begins. Each pet receives comprehensive medical care, including vaccinations, flea control, sterilization, and deworming. Due to high veterinary bills, the organisation depends on the generosity of donors and volunteers to sustain its life-saving work.
Since 2007, KPH has successfully homed and sterilized over 2,600 animals, and independently sterilized 641 pets from underserved communities. Their adoption process is compassionate and thorough, ensuring every animal finds a safe, loving forever home. But their impact extends beyond rescue.
Through outreach programs, KPH educates communities about responsible pet care, distributes food, and facilitates spay-and-neuter initiatives to prevent suffering before it begins.
Rescue Animals
They take in distraught and abandoned animals and bring them back to good health before finding their forever home.
Pet Projects
They get involved in local communities and educate people about pet care, hand out free food and carry out sterilizations.
Spay & Neuter
They assist with the sterilization of pets and educate the community on the importance of spaying and neutering their pets.
We nurse the animals back to health, sterilize them and try and place them in suitable, loving homes.
