In a heartwarming show of compassion and community partnership, dotsure.co.za has once again stepped forward to support the Animal Anti-Cruelty League (AACL).

This time, the company has donated R150,000 to help advance the organisation’s life-changing efforts in animal rescue, healthcare, and education.

The contribution marks yet another milestone in dotsure.co.za’s ongoing commitment to improving animal welfare and supporting the big-hearted veterinary professionals who devote their lives to caring for vulnerable animals.

What Is the Meaning of AACL?

Founded on a mission to “care and protect,” the AACL stands as one of South Africa’s oldest and most respected animal welfare organisations.

As AACL General Manager Cindy Price explains, “We pick up where society fails to take responsibility—through sterilisation, vaccination, education, and by providing shelter and veterinary care for unwanted or neglected animals.”

Their work extends across hospital treatment, kennels, adoptions, and community outreach, delivering essential support to vulnerable pets.

From inspectors investigating cruelty, to vets leading sterilisation campaigns, to kennel staff ensuring every dog enjoys a walk and a warm meal, each day at the AACL is a testament to compassion in action.

A Day in the Life of an AACL Vet

For Dr. Faizel Suleyman, Principal Veterinarian at the AACL, no two days are ever the same.

“Our workload is shaped by consultations, surgeries, vaccinations, and education,” he explains. “We see everything from bite wounds and tick fever to cases of neglect and cruelty. Despite the challenges, what keeps us going is the difference we make. Every wag of a tail or purr from a recovering patient makes it all worth it.”

It’s a sentiment shared by Dr. Ganean Chetty, who describes her role as “a balance between medical care, compassion, and community upliftment.”

Her story of Liso—a paralysed stray who made a full recovery from a spinal injury—beautifully captures the heart of the AACL’s mission.

“Liso’s story reminds us that every animal is special and deserving of a chance,” she says.

Helping Animals in Need and the Communities That Love Them

The AACL’s impact reaches far beyond the walls of its facilities.

Through extensive community outreach, the organisation supports pet parents in need with affordable veterinary care, food assistance, and education on responsible pet ownership.

“Compassion is contagious. By caring for the voiceless, we create hope, dignity, and a better future for all living beings,” says AACL Marketing Manager, Carren Nickloes.

Donations play a vital role in sustaining this work, enabling sterilisation campaigns and vaccination drives across South Africa.

Most recently, dotsure.co.za’s support made a meaningful difference during the July 2025 Mandela Day outreach led by the AACL’s Johannesburg branch—where more than 40 animals were sterilised and vaccinated—and during the World Rabies Day campaign, which helped protect 219 community animals through life-saving vaccinations.

Why Are Welfare Vets Important for the Community?

Veterinary professionals who devote their time to animal welfare initiatives serve as educators, advocates, and lifelines for families facing hardship.

As Dr. Suleyman explains, “The compassion behind making a difference in the lives of pets is not driven by financial gain—that’s what defines animal welfare vets.”

With the support of corporate partnerships, these dedicated professionals are empowered to do even more—bringing hope to vulnerable animals and helping South Africans embrace responsible pet ownership through accessible care and continuous education.

A Message of Hope and Responsibility

Every small act—whether adopting, volunteering, or donating—creates powerful ripples of change.

The AACL’s education programmes have already inspired children to become advocates for animal welfare within their communities, helping ensure that compassion is passed on to the next generation.

For dotsure.co.za, this partnership reflects their belief that every pet deserves the chance to live a healthy, happy life.

Supporting pets also means supporting the people and professionals who devote their lives to caring for them.
